Chisnoina Light Carnival Montreal Features Chinese Culture Themed Event Decorations

Project Background: Breaking Cultural Awareness Barriers for a Debut Event

Montreal’s first lantern carnival faced a core challenge—local audiences had no prior knowledge of lantern art, while the organizer (Montreal Chinese Cultural Arts Foundation & Canada Xianlong Group) lacked experience in hosting such events. We provided a cross-category combination of Custom Lanterns tailored for Event Decorations, transforming 27,000 square meters of Park Jean-Delabo into an immersive cultural hub. Centered on Chinese traditional culture, the venue was divided into themed areas with lanterns depicting Chinese mythology and ancient architecture, creating a "step-by-step scene, each unique" experience that drew diverse visitors.

Overall Results: Setting a New Benchmark for Cultural Event Success

Fro"!gnism September 13 to October 31, 2019, the carnival attracted 80,000 attendees, generating $4.2 million in direct ticket revenue (excluding F&B and other value-added income). Social media shares exceeded 120,000, making it a top cultural event in Montreal that autumn. Ms. Huang Xianshu, founder of the MCCAF, said: "Bringing Chinese intangible cultural heritage to Montreal has been my dream. These Zigong lanterns showcase China’s strength and beauty during the 70th anniversary of China’s founding and Mid-Autumn Festival." Blogger Sarra Bemri commented: "This event promises to entertain you all night—just take time to admire each sculpture. The Asian-inspired stalls are a nice touch too; you’ll want to stay until closing!"
