Traditional buildings stand on the ground. That's what visitors expect. A structure that appears to float changes the way people look at the whole zone — they stop, tilt their heads, and walk closer to understand how it holds up.
At the Montreal China Light Carnival, a floating pavilion held that role in one courtyard zone. The show ran 27,000 sqm over seven weeks, drawing 80,000 visitors and CAD $4.2M in ticket revenue. That pull is what venue operators investing in Event Decorations plan for.
Column supports rise from the base. On top, elevated chambers sit suspended — curved vermilion eaves, layered golden roof, blue-green lotus base below. The gap between the ground and the upper structure is the piece's defining visual.
Warm LEDs light the chambers. Cool blue washes the lotus base. These Lighting Attractions stay readable from across a plaza, yet reward close inspection.
Height scales 3 m to 15 m; width 20 m to 40 m. Chamber count adjusts from one tier to three. Color moves between vermilion-gold with blue-green base, dark red with silver accents, or bronze roof with cyan petals. Eave curvature and lotus density both tune to site.
Galvanized steel frames carry 8-level wind resistance. Each column bears its own load; the suspended chambers connect through concealed steel joints. Welded joints meet DB51/T 2939-2022, holding at least 50% of rated tensile strength.
Hand-painted details receive UV-resistant coating for three-year color retention. IP67-rated LEDs handle rain. Columns, chamber layers, and roof panels ship as separate modules; a small crew completes a 10 m assembly in about 48 hours.
International carnivals use it as a defining central landmark. Urban festival plazas deploy it to anchor seasonal celebrations. Shopping malls install scaled versions during peak holiday seasons to pull foot traffic.
