On June 10, 2026, the 32nd Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival officially concluded its months-long run at the Zigong China Lantern World scenic area in Sichuan. As one of China's largest Event Decorations events, the festival once again demonstrated the drawing power of large-scale custom light art in a destination setting.
Year of the Horse Installation Anchors This Year's Thematic Display
This edition featured a prominent Year of the Horse themed installation among its expansive display of illuminated sculptures. The design blended traditional Chinese zodiac symbolism with the region's signature dinosaur lantern motifs.
The festival's ability to continually refresh its thematic content while maintaining its core identity offers a reference point for event planners exploring how seasonal displays can drive repeat visitation and sustained public interest.
A Proven Model for Cultural Tourism Events
The successful completion of the 32nd edition reinforces the role of Zigong's lantern craft—a tradition spanning over 1,500 years—as a proven model for cultural tourism events worldwide.
For international event organizers, the festival's operational scale, thematic versatility, and consistent audience engagement provide practical insights into how custom light art can anchor large-scale public celebrations.
Looking Ahead: 33rd Edition Expected in Early 2027
The 33rd edition is expected to open in early 2027. LanternsArt's involvement in the Zigong lantern tradition continues through its custom design and production work for event organizers worldwide.
